The Server Dies...Then is RevivedSunday was hellish around here. The computer that serves all the sites for this and other domains took a turn for the worse, and was completely frozen. Attempts to access anything via the web resulted in errors or nothing at all. The ports were alive, but the hard drive was bugged. An intrusion was the first thing I though might be the problem, but it was not so. Immediately I checked the logs and saw that the kernel had an error: The issue was with how the kernel accesses the drive. Attempts at reboot failed completely, and the bios was unable to find a Master Boot Record or the first sector of the drive. In fact it couldn’t see whether there was a driva at all. Using Linux Rescue solved the issue. I was able to get things working again within the shell provided by running the command: chroot /mnt/sysimage
